GoF Filming Spotted

Posted by Ciarán | 07/31/04 12:30 PM | GoF Movie

Russel Brown - a resident of nearby Beacon Hill came across a large filming crew that turned out to be Warner Bros. They were possibly filming the scene in GoF where Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys use a Portkey to get to the Quidditch World Cup. Here is his account of what he saw:

On Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th July 2004 I was happy to come across a large film crew on one of the hills just outside my village (Beacon Hill which is located in the Ivinghoe hills near Berkhamsted). On further inspection I quickly found out that it was in fact Warner Brothers productions, and they were filming the 4th installment of Harry Potter.

From where I was standing I was able to see the characters of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Mr. Weasley, George and Fred Weasley, and what I have come to believe to be Amos and Cedric Diggory. It looked like they were filming the scene where they are travelling to the portkey, as at the top of the hill stood one large boot which all the characters were walking towards and all looked rather exhausted after the sixth take.

The main actors Dan [Radcliffe], Emma [Watson], Rupert [Grint], and Bonnie Wright all left the set at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and doubles stepped in and continued working till 8:30 p.m.
This, however, has not been confirmed.

Thanks HPANA!

JK Rowling - I know, some may balk this. But I personally feel she is majorly resposible for making fantasy "cool" again, and bringing literally millions of children to the world of fantasy.

Thanks TLC.

Posted by Ciarán | 07/29/04 11:27 AM | GoF Movie

ic Berkshire - Snap decision to get out of the rain landed one teenager with a part in the latest Harry Potter film.

On the day the production company came scouting for doubles at Windsor Boys' School, Thomas Davy only went into the school hall to get out of the downpour.

Over a year later the 15-year-old has found himself mixing with stars of stage and screen as the double for Neville Longbottom. "I always really wanted to be an actor but never thought it would be a reality" he said. "It's brilliant." (more...)

Posted by Ciarán | 07/28/04 5:20 PM | Rumours

A certain Harry Potter fan site is reporting that the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be the end of this year. This is very unlikely. Try not to believe any rumours like this, unless they come from an official source - preferably Jo's site.

Dan Says 'Thanks' For Birthday Present

Posted by Ciarán | 07/28/04 1:25 PM | Actors

DanRadcliffe.com set up a magazine ("Aced Magazine") for Daniel Radcliffe's birthday, which left him "speechless". He responded to DanRadcliffe.com in the following letter:

Dear Jenna

Well, you've done it again - left me speechless with ACED. It is a fantastic magazine and I was completely knocked out by it and the time and effort you have put into it. I love all the reviews and the photos are excellent. By happy coincidence I had just bought the Modest Mouse album which I think is fantastic! I was also stunned to see the fan demographic and as always find it a little difficult to take in the spread of fans around the world when I am working at Leavesden. ACED is a beautifully constructed and imaginative magazine and everyone I have shown it to loves it. It made my 15th birthday very special and I can't wait for the next issue at Christmas. Thank you.
