PoA on Best Movies List of 2004

Posted by Michelle | 12/29/04 10:06 PM | PoA Movie

Canada News - [Prisoner of Azkaban] deserves inclusion simply because of the route director Alfonso Cuaron took with the third film. A Harry Potter film won't win a Palme D'Or, or even an Oscar, necessarily, but there was art in the way Cuaron put Azkaban on screen. The most sophisticated Potter film yet, in both visual style and subject matter, which ruffled some fans' feathers. Magic was also a given in this third installment and became less a part of the plot. As a result, director Cuaron could focus more on the relationships between the three main characters, and the other students and teachers at Hogwarts. Given time, I think Cuaron's contribution to the series (Mike Newell is directing the fourth film) will be seen as one of the finest, if not the finest, period.
