Difficulties of the GOF Tournament

Posted by James | 05/04/05 5:27 PM | GoF Movie

USA Today -

The physical requirements were much tougher this time. Goblet is more of an action thriller than the previous three because it centers on an elaborate physical contest, the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

Radcliffe had to learn to scuba-dive, then act underwater. "Just keeping your eyes open for a significant time is difficult," Newell says. "We couldn't do anything for more than 15 seconds at a time, which proved very complicated."

Radcliffe says he enjoyed diving, despite some minor drawbacks.

"It did sting a bit in the eyes, but other than that and the ear infections, it was fantastic."

Health guide knocks Harry Potter from the top of the charts

Posted by Sam | 05/04/05 3:47 PM | General

NEW YORK "The Da Vinci Code" couldn't do it. Neither could books by the new pope. But, thanks to a plug on Oprah Winfrey's T-V talk show, a health guide has toppled Harry Potter from the top of the best-seller charts.

The book is "YOU: The Owners Manual," co-written by Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Memhet Oz. And it's number one on both Amazon-dot-com and Barnes and Noble-dot-com as of today.

That ends, or at least interrupts, the months-long reign of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." Then again, J-K Rowling's book doesn't come out until July.

It's now number-two on on the lists of both online retailers.Full Story here

Goblet of Fire Special Effects info

Posted by James | 05/03/05 5:40 PM | GoF Movie

XPose Magazine - With kids around the country already squirreling away their pocket money in anticipation of the sixth Harry Potter book hitting the shelves in July, wizard fans are no doubt also warmed by the current production of the fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As the project's Creature Effects Supervisor Nick Dudman reveals, the studio has again pushed the boat out with the spellbinding effects - the most spectacular sight being the sparkling new dragon, fiberglass horns and all.

"It's a pretty powerful beast," says Dudman. "It roars, throws its head about, lashes its tail, and bashes its wings against the side of the cage while spitting fire." Although CGI in film has evolved to stunning proportions, Nick still believes in the tried and true method of animation, even for a fire-shooting model that is 40 feet long.

Imax theaters are going to be presenting Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire the day it comes out, November 18, on all Imax screens. Imax has previously done this with Prisoner of Azkaban and made quite a bundle from it.

EDIT: Shortly after this announcement, Imax stocks jumped nearly 10%!
